Deepwater subsea oil and gas exploration, drilling and production is rapidly increasing and is the main area of new oil and gas discovery and development. In addition, new Oil & Gas frontiers such as the Arctic are heavily reliant on subsea data communication for safe and efficient operations in these unmanned, remote and severe environments. WFS underwater wireless communication technologies are unique and essential to meet the present and future challenges of the subsea Oil & Gas industry.
Delivering reliable, through-water & through-ground wireless communications is a
major challenge. Acoustic modems and floating repeater buoys are deployed widely
for
through-water communications, but they have drawbacks in certain operational
scenarios. Floating buoys are not discreet and acoustic modems do not work well in
shallow, turbid or noisy waters.
The leading edge technology developed by
WFS will allow unobtrusive high data-rate transmission through water and through
ground, removing the need for a cable or repeater buoy altogether. With a high tolerance
